Cuellar is one of the more conservative members of the Dem caucus and his district is becoming more republican though he’s still hanging on. Wonder if there’s a party switch in the works here.

    2. mountainwocky on

I never want to hear another Republican say they are for law and order. The evidence proves otherwise.

    3. Trump takes bribes and Trump never met a corrupt politician that he ~~didn’t like~~ wouldn’t take a bribe from for a pardon.

    4. uh oh, some magas are gonna be having a stroke trying to run mental gymnastics on this one. aren’t all dems supposed to be bad? or just the ones that won’t pay him a bribe?

    5. amputeenager on

He’ll probably switch to R in exchange for the pardon and MAGA will rave about what a brilliant deal maker Trump is.

    6. trump owns him now . Figures , he went thru all the republicans, now he’s working on the Dems.

    7. Just another step toward normalizing and legitimizing another crime. At this point, they might as well tax the income and write off the payments.

US is a corrupt shit hole country. Worse than a banana republic, and the rule of law is dead.

    9. Does anyone know Trump’s price list? It would be interesting to know how many Trump coins you have to buy for what length of sentence in order to be pardoned by Trump.

    10. botsoundingname on

Is he just pardoning anyone at this point? (By that i mean anyone who gives him or his goons money)

    11. Easy to understand why. trump wants to normalize bribes because that’s what he is getting from the tariffs he has imposed.

I solomley swear to faithfully protect the institutuion of pedophilia, the house of ponzy, feast of bribes adorned with money laundering and last but not least the office of drug dealing so help me my fellow oligarchs and dictators.

    13. He broke the law he needs to go to jail. That should be true, no matter what party of you’re affiliated with.

The self proclaimed ‚tough on crime“ president, sure pardons a lot of criminals

I’m still mad Trump Pardoned the jan 6 rioters and the cocain smuggling cartel leader.

I don’t know the details of this case and I don’t care.

Obama pardoned some non-violent small time marijuana convicts after it got legalized in most of the country. That is a reasonable use of the pardon power.

Trump pardons whomever buys his crypto. It’s gross.

    16. “Mr. Trump announced the pardon for Cuellar and his wife, Imelda, on Truth Social, claiming their prosecution was the result of weaponization by the Justice Department under former President Joe Biden.”

Jesus is this the Trump’s administration’s go to generic excuse for pardoning criminals. They offered similar reasoning for the drug trafficking ex-Honduran President, they said the same for the tax evader Paul walczak, and David Gentile who was running a billion dollar Ponzi scheme.

He must have paid Trump off too. I don’t care what side of the aisle someone is on, I am so fucking sick of these blatant bribes for pardons. I know, if you are rich and commit a drug, sex, or financial crime, Trump will pardon you (or commit an act of insurrection).

      >Mr. Trump announced the pardon for Cuellar and his wife, Imelda, on Truth Social, claiming their prosecution was the result of weaponization by the Justice Department under former President Joe Biden. „Henry, I don’t know you, but you can sleep well tonight — Your nightmare is finally over!“ the president wrote, alleging that Cuellar’s opposition to Biden’s immigration policies was the reason he was indicted.

Okay so he has no idea who he’s pardoning. Who is signing and approving the pardons if he doesn’t know?

      >In last year’s indictment against the Cuellars, federal prosecutors accused them of accepting at least $598,000 in bribes from an oil and gas company owned by the government of Azerbaijan and a Mexican bank. They alleged that the bribes were laundered in the form of sham consulting contracts through front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar. The congressman’s wife, according to the indictment, „performed little or no legitimate“ work under the consulting contracts. The Justice Department also accused Cuellar of acting as a foreign agent to benefit the government of Azerbaijan. He faced 14 counts, including conspiracy, bribery and money laundering. Cuellar and his wife pleaded not guilty.

Trump’s favorite kind of criminal behavior: conspiracy, bribery, and money laundering

Dems could have been done with this dude but Nancy made sure he is still their guy.

    20. Not a single democrat wants pardons for democrats convicted of bribery or corruption. This is all about bribes and favors.

    21. Hans_Delbruck on

Why do I feel like I’m watching a dumber version of Simon Phoenix releasing people from prison?

„Jeffrey Dahmer? I love that guy!“

    22. redditorrrrrrrrrrrr on

Wtf why? If he is guilty of bribery let him serve his sentence.

And this is the difference between the left and right. I don’t care what side of the aisle the filth is on, I just want it cleaned up.

    23. SentientFotoGeek on

Time to remove pardoning power from *all* presidents, now and forever.

    24. Trump bragged about bribing politicians during the 2016 debates. He doesn’t view bribery as a crime. He can’t even claim democrats are corrupt if he’s pardoning them.

    25. findingmike on

Interesting that when a Democrat gets in trouble it is in the headline. When a Republican gets in trouble, the headline just says „politician“.
