My question is, why Amazon workers? What are they seeing threatening democracy that we aren’t?
They aren’t the ones programming the AI (or I would assume) and it’s not like Jeff Bezos gives his workers a lot of democratic freedoms worth mentioning, because if he did, they might actually work in humane conditions. I don’t know what Amazon workers are facing for them to be able to comment on the democracy part of it all.

I hear Amazon is about to hire a thousand people, in case anyone is looking for a job?

Yeah, I’m sure they’re all experts in this stuff and know what they’re talking about. These would be the same people who vote in socialists to run things.

AI is perhaps the greatest threat to the world at the moment, in numerous ways.

Is the misuse of it. The cat is out of the bag and is the rich who would determine how is used. Governments will fold (remember that CEOs and politicians are the easiest to replace with AI but will be the last.

>1000 Amazon employees who didn’t improve productivity with return to office rule told they are being replaced with AI as excuse for their firing.

I’m a huge fan of AI. It’s going to change the world just as the internet did 25 years ago. There was the same panic then too how it would destroy jobs when it created jobs instead.
It will be the same again.

I believe AI is a threat because with all these new data centers, something like 8000 big businesses and government agencies around the world could spy on anyone. They may look at everything in your tax records, medical records, entertainment media choices, credit card usage, bank account usage, mobile phone usage, mobile phone locations, electric power usage, and many other sources of date that I can’t think of right now.

Hilarious that we’re still screaming into the void about this shit. The people that can stop it- are the ones that profit from it.
You’re asking for a gas fire to put itself out. Thais not how it works. You need to remove the gas. Only you can’t, because there’s always going to be more.
