The Minister responsible for Official Languages doesn’t think the status of one of the official languages is a political issue? Seems like the wrong role for him
I have a lot of respect for Miller. He gives genuine answers to question instead of spin and comms lines. I think he will be good in the role and promote the French language as a positive asset and not something weak that needs to be defended
Carney’s election last spring was largely due to the vote in Quebec. Since then, he backed down on key measures already in force or to come into force with respect to two key issues important for a majority of Quebecers: climate change control and gun control. And now he appoints as Minister for Official Languages, Canadian Identity and Culture someone who clearly showed when he was Minister of Immigration his lack of sensitivity for the need to protect French language. As if it was not enough, the guy now makes these wholly inappropriate comments.
Carney is better wake up soon, failing which a vast majority of Quebecers risk looking elsewhere the next time.
