> a civilian delivery truck was carrying the munition, but the driver stopped for the night at a hotel in Burg, parking the truck in an unsecure car park.
That seems not entirely secure.

10,000 rounds of ammunition en route to the army were stolen from a civilian delivery van in eastern Germany. Police suspect it was a targeted theft, and follows several smaller ammunition thefts over the last several months.

Russia really be struggling with manufacturing….

10,000 pistol rounds and 9,900 rifle rounds. The article also reports that police ammunition in the same area has been stolen as well. The big question in my mind isn’t who is stealing it, but who is their market? Who is buying nearly 20,000 illegal rounds of ammo? They aren’t taking risks like this for free.

The driver has to be part of this. You don’t just pull over to a „random“ hotel to sleep when you have a different route and are hauling ammunition

oh that’s bad 20k rounds out on the street is scary

Dollars to donuts that driver took some Russian money.

It’s such a small amount of ammo it’s hardly a percentage of what the driver was delivering. This much ammo literally only takes up 2.0–2.5 m².

That’s only 4 drive by shootings worth in the US.

I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often, and even by accident if ammo delivery is treated like a basic Amazon package. Do they also just throw them on the floor outside the barracks when they arrive ? 😅

What do they need those ammo for?

According to the contract between the ministry and delivery companies, the latter has the obligation to make sure the cargo is secured. For that reason, there are normally two drivers so that one can keep an eye on the vehicle during any stops.
So, the delivery company was trying to go cheap maybe and break protocol?

AFD arming up? East Germany, targeted, probably insider knowledge. It could be Russia, but it would be in cooperation with the AFD or Heimat (NPD) anyway, right?
Could be completely random, but eew…

Damn, why would the local cops steal military ammo?

„unplanned stop, unattended truck“ yeah right, 99.999% bribed, or blackmailed.
