Oh boy! I’m looking forward to a nice, civil discussion about domestic economic geography in middle-income countries!

I had no idea people in Jerusalem earned so little given it’s one of the most expensive cities in the world.

I have no idea how anyone survived given how expensive Israel is. I’m not sure that covers food in tel aviv, much less rent. A Schwarma is like $15-20

I see that many people in the comments are a bit confused, so it seems that a clarification is needed:
The map shows the *median* income, the *average* income in Israel is around $52,000.

I wonder how much does it differentiate in 2025 now

Cool graph, but a bit too hard to differentiate the two extremes here. Also, put labels on the highest and lowest.

For mych clear picture we should remove haredi and arab areas as these areas have significantly lower income than normal jewish areas.

I did a fellowship in Jerusalem. I made $51k my last year. We did OK but we were definitely nowhere near average for our city. Our apartment sucked, our car was 10 years old, we didn’t eat out much. Income disparity is a real thing there, yet no one really slips through the cracks. I never felt like one bad break would ruin us like it would in the US.

Very surprised by the other deep green area besides Tel Aviv which I understand is Modiin and Ramle, of all places. Could you quote the data for those regions and how expensive are things over there?

West bank settlements have income numbers too? Would love to see those.

Does this include the income earned from weapons manufacturers conducting genocide in Gaza?

As an Israeli this doesnt surprise me one bit.
The government has not taken care of the peripherial zones for decades so to see them lagging behind is not a shock.

It’s crazy there are countries where 45k is the most you can hope for while that’s minimum wage in the USA.
