
Meine Großmutter versuchte, eine Lihapiirakka zu bestellen, aber die Angestellte verstand es nicht, bis klar wurde, dass es sich um eine Fleischpastete handelte. Es gab auch Missverständnisse, als ich den Roggen als Beilage bestellte. Ich musste es als finnisches Brot klären.
Keiner von uns spricht fließend, aber wir verstehen, wie man bestimmte Wörter ausspricht (abzüglich des rollenden R, aber wir versuchen es)

I think reindeer omelette tells everything. During 34 years I have lived in Finland I have never heard anyone would put reindeer in omelette before.

Just to check, you are complaining about lack of Finnish speaking staff at a restaurant in America when ordering some non-Finnish abomination making it seem to people here that you were in a Finnish restaurant where nobody spoke Finnish? 🤣
This is pretty much as finnish as norway
to be fair, i am a native finnish speaker and very fluent in english but if someone asked me for „rye on the side“ i would also have problems understanding that it is bread they want.
just for fun, it would be nice to see a pic of the menu!
