Economists should stop pretending to be scientists and go back to the core of the discipline—as a field of inquiry and way of thinking

Being an economist has more to do with adopting an economic theory over a contrary theory and trying to make reality fit the theory.

There is the **Keynesian theory** and its opposite the „**Austrian school**“ theory… The first assigns a lot of importance to the government stimulating the economy while the other states that the „invisible hand“ of the market solves every problem without the need for gouvernemental intervention.

These are 2 theories, there are a huge number of conflicting theories.

Which is right? Both of them and neither of them. Sometimes you need to let the market self-regulate but sometimes, like today, you need heavy government intervention.

**So, depending on which economic theory an economist adheres to, one day he will be right and the next he will be dead wrong.**
