It blew the required signature total out of the water. 13.6% of the electors in the province is a massive number.
>The Alberta Forever Canada petition, also known as the „Forever Canadian“ petition, needed 293,976 signatures to be successful. Elections Alberta said the petition had 438,568 valid signatures counted and 404,293 verified signatures after a random statistical sampling method was applied with a 95 per cent confidence level.
>Elections Alberta said it’s estimated about 13.6 per cent of electors in the province signed the petition.
Well the good news is that the separatists are no longer in the driving seat. This is still a worrying gamble, even if it kicks sand into the gears.
There’s not going to be a referendum. They’ll stall it or block it or repeal the legislation. See: this weekends convention. They’re not going to let Lukaszuk stand in their way.
