You know that production team goaded him into being that heel that allowed enough friction on set to stoke the schadenfreude viewership. I think when he became a dad it changed him. I’m happy he is able to admit this. Wish more people did and acknowledge it’s okay to grow and mature.

I never found his role to be necessary. Even clueless people deserve a little grace. It didn’t seem right that tone deaf people were paraded in front of viewers the way they were. Maybe I’m just a softie but the likes of William Hung did not deserve to be treated like a clown.

It was kind of the shtick. He was the blunt one, Paula was the overly sweet one, and Randy was somewhere in the middle. Was there ever any question that this was put on for the show? I don’t care for Simon Cowell either way but this was the persona he was playing
