Who does he think he’s kidding? Hegseth has been rehearsing his „kill them all“ moment in bathrooms and under the covers since he was 13 years old.

Everything Hegseth did prior to this event including the recalling of Generals for the face to face meeting, his speeches to troops and renaming the DoD to DoW indicates that he would 100% order the killing of the people on those boats.
No one’s mentioned yet that trump is technically the Commander-in-Chief. Even by this given headline’s premise, trump is demonstrating that he’s either lying (obviously) and/or not in direct command of the military. Both impeachable offenses.

Hegseth is not a military officer under the jursidiction of the UCMJ. Rather, he is a civilian who ordered summary execution of a civilian. That is Murder One.
I know Trump likes to pardon drug dealers and violent J6ers, but pardoning a murderer may be a bridge too far. Also, the U.S. state where Hegseth issued the order may have jursidiction to prosecute him for murder, and Trump cannot pardon such a state crime.
