Well given ram I’ve been looking at has gone from 130usd to 450usd, I’d say it’s guarantees computers will be more expensive

Sucks for them I bought everything I needed and will wait years to upgrade.
That said, there are some very scary implications here. I am starting to feel the pain of everything go „up“ except my paycheck. Shits gonna get real if this is the trend for the next 4 years.

imagine ending Win10 to force Win11 and ram and anything with ram components explode by 500% in price.
I honestly don’t believe that this is an accident and just short supply, tech companies need massive cash influx for the money they’re burning investing in AI and data centers, after 3 years of trillions of dollars investing in this, suddenly it’s now after tech companies need massive money after reporting „record“ revenue that suddenly these components are now jacked up 500% in price?
Nah, this reeks of price fixing and market manipulation to cover short falls from over investing in AI.

And everyone needs to know this is all caused by OpenAI.

What will the Chinese market look like? I actually check it first now before I check the North American market because the price point is pretty much unbeatable.

Kinda debating if I should upgrade my GPU now or sigh and wait it out

Not just DDR5, DDR4 RAM is insane price too. I considered stretching my AM4 another year and upgrade to 128GB from 64. $270 for a used 2x32GB kit!

Do I upgrade now or wait for AI the crash and cause a fire sale?

I upgraded my PC and phone earlier this year just due to this.

Fear of future price hikes has been driving the economy since Trump started slapping tariffs on everything. Hell, even before that when he started the trade war with China in 2016. Corporations all played into that by constantly skyjacking prices for nearly a decade.

_____ prices went because of AI. Fill in anything, it’s the right answer.
Nothing more the FUD and collusion among the few memory chip manufacturers for profit. If NVDA can have monster chip profits, why not everyone else. Next week it will be copper used in power supplies. Then after why not steel used in computer and server cases. Followed up by led lights for RGB components inside the computer. And the finale will be keyboards because we can’t produce enough plastic. At this pace the iphone 18 will cost $3k for entry level.

AI tech company grift continues so nvidia and tsmc can keep increasing profit margin every year.

They should leave ram alone and make dedicated ram for ai. Makes no sense for ram to be spiked in prices

I think it will mean less sales too.

Market will correct the supply and demand curve if every tech gets priced out. It always does.
Also now is good time for manufacturers to reflect that refrigerator, washing machines and everything does not need to be smart

Wonderful. I wasn’t planning on upgrading anyway. None of the new shit is really that good.

Guess this means my iPhone 11 Pro will be used for 8 years now instead of the planned 7
