Interesting, I was wondering why so many lines have had delays recently. Just a couple of years ago even it was a rarity. Now the F line seems like it has a 50% of being delayed, sometimes by a couple of minutes at each stop which really screws you over.

Working for rail company can be very demanding given its punctuality of train schedule so accurate that you can set a watch.

    3. Japan has both a baby shortage and labor shortage. Clearly, the best solution here is to make it more difficult and less appealing for foreign workers to live here.

One solution for one-man commuter lines is to demolish the timetable. Just „train arrives every 5-10 minutes“ would be ok for me.

Yeah, well, that’s fine. The Sobu constantly has delays but trains are frequent enough it doesn’t bother me too much. At least the new gates prevents many “human accidents”. They still happen on either ends of the line though. Chiba side has too much of those I think. The rest is switch or signals problems. Unrelated to one-man operations. One-man or not won’t prevent Chiba folks crowding the train though. Crowding should get worse as mansions are built all over the place (and foreigners cannot buy enough of them to leave them empty) At the end, not one-man issue but crowd.

Automation is already coming which will remove the train drivers from the Yamanote and Joban local lines and is something that is already implemented in places like Singapore where there are no drivers.

Fukuoka metro also has had driverless subways for a couple decades now.
