The suspension of a Garda cyber-crime staffer for posting violent threats about Simon Harris is incredibly alarming. It’s not just another online crank it’s someone inside the unit responsible for tackling this exact behaviour. At a time when threats against politicians are rising, this seriously undermines trust in Garda oversight and internal controls. Hard to see how confidence is restored without real accountability and transparency.

Seems like an unhinged individual, surprised they managed to get this job in the first place.

He’s getting an unbelievable amount of threats. Rape threats were sent to his family members, bomb threats to his house. Whatever you think about him this is truly sickening shit and anyone doing it should be thrown under the jail.

„The source said the ‘level of some of the online behaviour towards the Tánaiste is just incredible’.
They added: ‘[Former MMA fighter] Conor McGregor tweeted that Simon should never be allowed to walk the streets of Ireland safely again.
‘And in the 24 hours after McGregor tweeted this, he received about 18,000 tweets directed at him, and 75 per cent of them were originating from outside of Ireland.’“
McGregor needs arresting for incitement.

Horrendous. We need politicians, but who would be willing to do that job? I certainly wouldn’t

A nutter like that is almost very likely to be involved with a fringe group, a lot of them on Telegram alone would advocate for members to get involved in the likes of the Gardai to infiltrate the departments.

Harris aside… if thats a ‘cyber crime expert’ employed by the state then we are shagged… will start looking for generators for when the grid gets taken down… 😳

Every pic of Harris reminds me of Richard Grant in Withnail and I.

For a so called expert, he doesn’t seem very aware of his online presence.

Was the call coming from inside the house ?

Why do the far right hate center right Harris so much? I have never considered him particularly progressive or exceptional on any matter? Was it just because of his seniority?
He just seems the typical usual center right self serving institutionalized lot we have unfortunately had running things for years.

So I guess all the people dismissing far right infiltration of the Gardai, will be insisting this guard has nothing to do with the far right, ya?…
I mean – here we have a member of the far right, claiming to be in a position of authority that can track other fucking internet users – and the position he held makes this _credible_…
He was just let right in. He’s the kind of person that allows the far right to assemble a hit list of _regular people, not just politicians_ – potentially for shit they say online, even.
It is not an accident that people like that are present in the police force, in positions that allow them to identify random people and target them for their political views.
He may have been stupid enough to target someone powerful – but it is _everyday people_ who should be the ones worrying about this, not the most well guarded person in the country.
Powerful people can more then well enough afford the protection needed to defend themselves from nutters like this – it’s an _advantage_ for them to allow such nutters to build lists of, and go after, their political opponents on the left.
