There’s apparently some talk, rumours, reports (?) that additional resignations are to come. I can’t imagine that would be helpful for the Liberals on future votes on the budget, but I’m sure there are those who will argue ’nobody wants an election‘ again.
I mean, they can only play the ‚but at least he’s not PP‘ game for so long.

Canada is the fourth largest producer of crude oil in the world. There is no amount of spin that can make any effort to increase that production a net benefit for reducing greenhouse gases.
>“This is about co-operative Confederation and making sure that Canada works as one country, and this is a clear indication that it does,” Jean said.
It doesn’t look much like cooperation from where I sit here in BC.

Hard to spin it as not walking back climate policies when you’re talking about ending the tanker moratorium that protects sensitive river and ocean systems, exempting Alberta from Clean Energy requirements, dropping the oil and gas emissions cap, and imposing a new pipeline on BC.

I’m just gonna wait and see what the plan is from Carney’s side. He has to have some sort of pitch for BC. Although it is something to say we aren’t cutting climate policies by making a bunch a exceptions.
I don’t think he’s worried about an election. I think he plans to eat the Conservative’s lunch instead of the NDP if it came to an election.

She’s splitting hairs, because she says that it’s not walking back legislation because the legislation doesn’t apply until 2035. So she’s saying it’s fine now because the provinces agree that on an arbitrary date (in 10 years) that they won’t do it. Sorry, but that’s insane. We all know that the CPC is going to get in before then and just scrap the legislation, so what’s this charade even for.
Too bad that the Greens and NDP aren’t here to champion a livable earth and are instead running high school council. We need a party that is actually serious for once, because it seems that none of them are.

“I really respectfully disagree with [Guilbeault] on his characterization of this memorandum of understanding,” “I don’t see it as **backsliding**, and I don’t see it as **cancelling programs**.“
„The MOU — which [paves a potential pathway for a new oil and gas pipeline](https://www.pm.gc.ca/en/news/backgrounders/2025/11/27/canada-alberta-memorandum-understanding) to British Columbia long desired by Alberta — includes a commitment by Ottawa to **not implement** its oil and gas **emissions cap** and to **suspend its clean electricity regulations** in Alberta pending a new carbon pricing agreement“
so…it’s not cancelling programs, it’s: not implementing them and suspending them. Do they believes their lies or are they just obtuse?
