We should build metro line in some random city in Pomerania, just to confuse maps

    2. Some metro lines are just trams that go underground for a part of their journey.

Surprised Manchester isn’t here for the UK. Metrolink is quite big now. Although if the cut off is mainly underground then that explains it. Not sure why DLR would be included if that’s the case.

I do wonder in the need for a cut off though. It feels like a needless distinction, especially were the lines are mostly segregated. Does it matter if they are above or below.

      Edit

It’s interesting looking at the other comments. Maybe we need to look at descriptive selection rather than prescriptive.

    4. Belgrade, Birmingham, Cologne, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Manchester, Liverpool, Zaragoza, Zürich, Krakow, Zagreb, Palermo would be some of the bigger cities without a metro.

    5. Frankfurt has no Metro.

If you count the underground train of Frankfurt as Metro, then Stuttgart has a Metro too.

    6. I understand the German U stands for Unterbahn. What about the Scandinavian T?

    7. A big „M“ how creative… And Germany being daring with „U“.. Bilbao, Glasgow and Prague the great creative triumvirate.

    8. If we are including Frankfurt, shouldn’t we also be including systems like Stuttgart and Dortmund? And maybe even Antwerp?

If Thessaloniki can have a 3 billion euro metro for a million citizens never stop believing for your city

We could have had an Underground in Bremen a while ago, but they decided it would be smarter to have the Autobahn go through the city.

Some German cities have not just U Bahns, but also S Bahns which are part of the Deutsche Bahn and partially go underground as well. S Bahn have bigger trains and wider tracks, U Bahn being significantly smaller inside.

    13. MRT is a better definition than metro: tracks are not accessible by pedestrians and other vehicles. So, taking out trams.

    14. What is your exact definition of a metro system? Because I see no reason why Frankfurt would be included, but, for example, Cologne, wouldn’t?

    15. Is it me or Athens‘ metro’s logo reminds me of Vkusno i tochka (the Russian McDonald’s after 2022).
