Die Zahl der Länder, die sich dazu verpflichten, die Nutzung fossiler Brennstoffe dauerhaft zu beenden, ist inzwischen weitaus größer als die, die sich dagegen aussprechen. Ihr Problem? Ihre wichtigste Organisationskonferenz, die 30 Jahre alte COP-Konferenz, kommt mit Vetos seitens der Petro-Staaten. In diesem Jahr nahmen 1.600 Lobbyisten der fossilen Industrie teil und es gelang ihnen, jegliche Erwähnung fossiler Brennstoffe aus der endgültigen Vereinbarung zu streichen.
Dieser lächerliche Zustand kann nicht weitergehen, und dies ist ein klassischer Schritt, um die Sackgasse zu überwinden. Sideline-COP und die Petrostaaten haben durch die Schaffung einer Alternative keine Macht mehr.

Fossil fuel corps and their slimeball lobbyists can’t get fucked.
Australia is a petrostate. And a coal state. And a gas state.
As an Australian, I know that the Australian federal government (and two state governments) are desperate to keep exporting fossil fuels for a long, long time. The industry lobbyists are inside the building.
It doesn’t matter how many committed countries there are, when a dozen countries can easily reduce all these efforts to zero, what will you do with the largest natural gas, oil and coal exporters and importers? The US, China, India, the Persian Gulf states etc?
