Es ist eine gute Nachricht, dass Autos mit fossilen Brennstoffen so stark zurückgehen. Dies steht im Gegensatz zu den USA, wo Benzinautos immer noch fast 90 % der Neuverkäufe ausmachen. Es sind China und Europa, die sich am schnellsten für Elektrofahrzeuge einsetzen, obwohl Autos mit Verbrennungsmotor in China immer noch fast 50 % des Umsatzes ausmachen.

    Aber es sind nicht nur gute Nachrichten. Die Hälfte dieser Elektrofahrzeuge sind Hybridmodelle. Daten zeigen, dass Fahrer mit diesen immer noch eine beträchtliche Menge Benzin verbrauchen, fast so viel wie Autos mit Verbrennungsmotor. Die EU hat eine Frist bis 2035 gesetzt, um den Verkauf aller neuen Benzinautos zu verbieten. und es scheint, dass dazu auch diese umweltschädlichen Hybridautos gehören werden.

    1. And how does eu make said electricity? What is the lifespan of an ev vehicle as oposed to ICE one? Average age of a car in Croatia is 13 years

    3. Transition will be faster than expected. Once a critical mass is achieved, it accelerates. It reminds me to the smartphone adoption curve. 

    4. It is great news, and Europe is perfect for it because our countries are a lot smaller. We need to break the larger car issue though.

      We have hit the threshold/critical mass where lobby groups can’t fight back and delay anymore – and at this point manufacturers have to invest and produce EV-s instead to stay afloat.

      Just please keep the door handles mechanical.. that’s all I ask. I ain’t buying shit where the only way to get out is fly by wire. Not safe.

    8. Wait – so I have a fairly large hybrid – Avalon. It gets 44 MPG. Around here there are 100’s of Prius – 51 to 55 MPG. I think US Fleet MPG is about 25.

      Are you suggesting that’s using almost as much gas?

      Here’s a stat for you. US Gas use has went down 5%.

      1% is due to BEV. 1%. The rest is due to better MPG, including Hybrids.

      So, quick quiz, which is bigger – 1% or 4%?
      Second quiz – if Hybrids were mandated in 2016, do you think gasoline use would ONLY be down 1%? or 5%? – definitely not, IMHO. It would be down 15-20% or more – imagine, 20X as much savings as has been acheived. Not even close.

      So based on math – BEV’s are bad news….if I use your logic….and that does not even include the 60% fossil fuels needed to fuel them!

      One really has to think a bit outside the box. Fact is, BEVs in the USA are a complete failure if we measure it by reduced Gasoline (and fossil fuel) use. Less than 1%. Surely you don’t think that is getting us anywhere – especially considering what we have spent in taxing everyone to pay for that 1% (tax credits, carbon credits, etc.).

    9. Great for the eu, so many things holding in back in the US right now though.

      We have one ev charging area in the whole city (of well over 80k people) so that already makes it hard

      If I wanted to charge properly at home it would cost a fortune as I do not have the proper breaker setup

      Ice cars are still cheaper to buy, and well, our economy isn’t doing any good right now

      I’m guessing I’m going to need one more ice vehicle before I get a ev, and hopefully they have some nice looking suv style ones by then cause cars struggle with my driveway
