After Alberta leading the charge against ‚overreach‘ with the carbon tax, Alberta has no right to demand it now when it comes to pipelines. Carney doesn’t have to require buy in from BC and First Nations but I’m glad he does. Not that private industry has any interest in assuming the risk. If TMX ends up providing the backing I’ll be fresh out of parties I vote for
I expect Alberta to ignore and not listen to the coastal FNs but was deeply disappointing to hear details yesterday that revealed how Minister Tim Hodgson failed to meet with them, and how dismissive of them he seemed.
I think Carney and his team is being incredibly naive in his dealings with people on this issue.
