      Theres something quite fitting about the nation that started the industrial revolution being one of the first major economies to move away from fossil fuels.

      Lol .. so what? They don’t have to explore. There are plenty to burn from existing oil fields. Plus, they can buy it from other nations who still explore.

      Don’t make it sounds like this is going to change the trajectory of climate change. „drill baby drill“ won in the world largest economy.

      There are huge reserves in the north sea, instead the UK is opting to import oil on emergency tariffs due to renewable curtailment. Also now supported by recently being crowned the most expensive place in the world to develop nuclear power plants. Run by morons

      Shell is the 3rd largest UK company by market cap.

      BP is the 11th. Both are absolutely still looking for and investing in new oil and gas projects as fast as they can.

      Britains economy is supported by oil and gas, the entire country relies upon oil and gas, they just don’t want to start any more new projects in their own backyard. They would rather their oil and gas super majors do that in someone else’s.

      I’m not sure that’s the grand dead the Uk government would have everyone believe it is.

      If Britain became the biggest economy I would have felt it by GBP exchange rate

      They did this in New Zealand without the energy infrastructure to support it and now we have all time high gas and electricity prices.

      I guess nobody has learned from what happened to Canada when they tried to weasel away from oil and gas, our economy fell into a deep recession almost depression levels.
