We waited decades for avatar 2 and all a sudden there coming like hotcakes. I just don’t get it.

    2. Yeesh, it’s miserable in this comment section. Whenever an Avatar movie comes out I eat an edible and go see it on the biggest screen I can find and I always have fun.

My momma always told, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

So here’s my take on the Avatar sequels:

    4. No one gives a fuck about the story, James. If they don’t come for the visuals they’re not interested in a reading a book where they have to fill in those blanks with their imagination.

How expensive is this movie if a $2 Billion boxoffice isn’t profitable?

      Avatar $2.9B

      Way of Water $2.3B

Fire and Ash will probably come close to Way of Water since it’s only been 3 years and the audience is probably still there.

I hope he walks away and makes other movies. Avatar is such a waste of his storytelling. Great on him for revolutionizing animation but I genuinely just don’t care.

Only way they stop making more after the 3rd film is if it makes less than $1.8 billion. Anything north of that and Disney will gladly make 4 and 5. Star Wars ain’t making a comeback like it did a decade ago and Marvel isn’t going to reach their former heights again even with more Avengers films and RDJ back.

    8. I found the 2nd film incredibly boring and the kids were terrible making stupid decisions for the sake of it

We enjoyed Avatar 1 and 2. They’re fun popcorn movies, it’s fine for people to like them because we don’t expect anything more.

I think the hate from people says more about them than the movies…

I’m actually shocked that people would care. Nobody I know has talked about Avatar since the first one.

But we’ve seen the Last Airbender. Replacing everything with 8 foot blue alien creatures is tiring

They showed a trailer for this at the cinema yesterday. It reminded me of a Disney movie with the visuals. I had wanted to see the early avatar movies but that latest trailer was very underwhelming.

I suppose if you’ve enjoyed the early movies, you’ll enjoy this, but I was really surprised how much that trailer quashed my thrist to see it, and the others 🤷‍♂️

Honestly I’m down to watch as many as he makes. James Cameron doesn’t make bad movies and so what if they’re long…they’re beautiful to watch and the work put in to make it is beyond respected.

I feel like this bloom spoiled on the vine a bit. I waited so long for the 2nd and then it was just kinda “meh”. Therefore, there is no way I will pay the steep premium to see #3 at the theater.
Maybe Mr. Cameron believes his movies are more precious than they actually are?

    15. If we’re honest it probably will, but it’s really good to see someone considering the risks of leaving a franchise open.

Americans were fine with un-obtanium and other stupid shit. Its just dances with wolves in space

All else aside, I do respect when writer-directors write books to compliment their stories. I wish more would. Even if it only adds context, it’s nice having something that wraps it all up if you can’t bring it to film.

Didn’t he say he was already working on 4 and it was already finished or nearly? Or was that another lie

    19. I honestly hope it makes as much as it can make because I absolutely love Avatar, still the best movie going experience in my life with the first movie.

    20. Ok

So what colour are the new na’vi in this book and when somebody pleads with the spirit of Pandora for its assistance at the end whar kind of animals come this time?

    21. GenericWhiteDude on

I for one can’t wait to eat a gram and a half of mushrooms and see this in IMAX as James Cameron intended

    22. monkeyhoward on

I saw the trailer for Fire and Ash and it looks like a video game cut scene. All the characters are Na’vi and everything is animated.

    23. Appropriate-Welder98 on

Just make an animated version. CGI is so good these days no one would even barely notice or care that it’s not live action.

    24. drgnrbrn316 on

Regardless of thoughts on the quality of the story, people will show up for spectacle if nothing else. It’ll make a profit.

Please james you are 71, a man of your talent needs to give us something different

    26. The-Dudemeister on

While the first half of avatar 2 was just a visual ooo pretty. Once the movie got going it was decent. That sinking ship part was fucking killer and James Cameron at his best. Neytiri losing it and going on a rampage was crazy

    27. Derpykins666 on

Unless the movie is absolute trash I don’t think it’ll do bad. Plus they’re at a more break-even point now. They spent so long developing the second movie, now they can just film it all back to back with the same tech. Which has to be beneficial for them in saving a bit more money along the way, even if these films are ludicrously expensive to make. The second movie did well from what I recall, so I think the audience is there, at least for now.
