NPR bezifferte die verifizierte Gesamtsumme auf rund 2 Milliarden US-Dollar. Das Wall Street Journal ermittelte am großzügigsten etwa 2,6 Milliarden US-Dollar. Selbst die optimistischen Zahlen entsprechen bei weitem nicht dem, was DOGE beworben hat.
War DOGE also nur ein massiver Misserfolg … oder waren „Budgetkürzungen“ die Titelgeschichte, während sie Daten sammelten, auf Systeme zugriffen und hinter den Kulissen ihren Einfluss ausweiteten? Die Einsparungen waren nicht real, aber Elons Zugang war es auf jeden Fall.

On the surface level they got roadblocked and fought in court every step of the way. They were not allowed to really make any meaningful cuts. So from that standpoint it was a failure but not for lack of trying.
It was very interesting to see how panicky politicians and the media got over the prospect of the government being audited.
All that aside though, it may well have been a ploy for data mining, we don’t know yet and may never know.

This seems to be a common problem. An amateur with little understanding makes a boast. As they start to understand that things are the way they are for a reason reality kicks in. Then as with any reduction effort the people who own those areas of reduction start to push back, and you have the political stonewall. The final realization is that even the things that should be fixed are complex and difficult to change; especially quickly.
I call BS on that 1.4Billion.
They cut 50 billion just from USAID alone. The entire program got axed.

This is a misleading graphic. The amount of money Dodge has cost the people of america is unknown but significant. Between the lawsuits, delays and disruptions created resulting in loss of revenue, loss of efficiency due to loss of individuals with specialized knowledge, and so much more. This isn’t even including the loss of knowledge which in itself is extremely valuable.
Dodge by ALL measures was a disaster for everyone except Elon and the people who got paid by Dodge.
USAID alone got 40bn a year. I’m disappointed how little doge cut, but I’m not sure how politico came in so wildly below that number
