Start fining the people who rent out their accounts without checking the right to work. Fine is £60k I believe, £45k for a first offence.

    2. In other shocking news today, we can exclusively reveal that the Pope is a Catholic.

But the chances of the government or courts forcing Deliveroo etc to treat their employees as actual, salaried employees is as close to zero as makes no odds, so the dodgy „contractors“ will carry on subbing their accounts to all and sundry whilst the non-dodgy delivery riders and drivers continue to get shafted over pay, security, health (no sickness pay), etc.

The delivery app operators will continue to rake in millions whilst the few police we have left on the streets are busy stopping delivery riders.

Meanwhile if your bicycle is stolen don’t expect a police response other than ‚here’s your crime number‘.

„Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo said they had strict employment policies and worked closely with the Home Office and police. All three apps use daily facial recognition to verify couriers, among other checks including Right to Work documents.“

The news is not surprising. It’s not hard for someone to provide photo verification daily, whilst allowing someone else to work for them for a cut of their earnings.

There are at least three main apps: Just Eat, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo that one single person can sell to an illegal immigrant. That gives them at least three sources of income.

The delivery companies will know this and that their verification is also largely pointless because illegals are still able to circumnavigate the system far too easily.

We could have had drone deliveries by now. Instead we spent the money on infinity illegals riding for deliveroo.

Punishing people for working seems cruel. If you take away their income they will resort to more severe things like theft. The big picture is important here. £50 a week is not a lot to survive on. This isn’t hurting anyone. Surely police have bigger fish to fry?

    7. They need to do much better at confiscating illegal bikes. It’s got to the point where seeing a delivery rider on a legal bike is very unusual.

It shouldn’t be news that Sheffield Police are doing their job properly. It should be news that every other force isn’t.

    9. We’ve known this for years. We know deliveroo and uber eats have stacked it this way, lobbied endlessly, outsourced all responsibility, poured US VC money in to destroy alternatives.

Knowing all this, why are we not calling out the people *using* the companies as well?

Yeap, knew for years after prev working for McDs.. although those were great delivery drivers, not in Sheffield tho

Now go after the people renting out their accounts no doubt exploiting very vulnerable people who are desperate (with criminal gang exploitation elements no doubt) and also delivery apps for allowing it to take place.
