This is like a master locksmith being forced to leave town because the government demanded they start making locks with a universal key. You don’t compromise the world’s best security to make a government’s job easier—you just guarantee that everyone, including the bad guys, will eventually find the backdoor. A huge loss for digital privacy.

That’s the only move they could make. You can’t be in the business of building fortresses and agree to leave a secret door in the blueprints. Once a backdoor exists, it’s not a backdoor for „the good guys“—it’s a vulnerability for everyone. Respect for sticking to their principles.

Fuck France and any other country that’s against encryption and the right to have privacy. Fuck France for being always in the wrong side of history.
