There are some tech services which are so inextricably entrenched into daily commerce that trying to boycott them is akin to giving up participation in the 21st century. E.g. Visa, Mastercard, Windows, Gmail, Paypal, etc.
Xitter is not and has never been one of those services…
Literally everyone who actually understands the internet knew that X was basically just a shithole full of bots, foreign influence, and propaganda…
This new isn’t even surprising to me. I read the news when it broke about the location stuff and thought „huh I thought everyone knew 3/4 of these accounts were just foreign influence..“
But given how big a story it is… I guess not.

Look at Elon’s own follower count. An overwhelming amount are bots from Eastern Europe and elsewhere

Russia is eroding the credibility of our government by using troll farms and a compromised administration to flood the zone with absurdities, causing cognitive overload, desensitization, and deepening existing social and political divides, making a unified response impossible. Does anyone feel politically burned out, that this is „the new normal?“ Does anyone feel like they can trust their government?
„Coincidentally,“ we’ve all heard the recent news of the sheer amount of foreign bots and trolls just on Twitter. Russia’s disinformation campaigns also use trolls and bots, sometimes outsourcing work to nationals in other countries (e.g., Ghana, Nigeria, India, etc.) to flood the zone and spread a specific narrative.
Why would Trump and his administration be complicit in a Russian psyop on the American people? Why would he disband the Foreign Influence Task Force that investigates covert foreign influence operations? Why does Trump’s foreign policy always favor Russia? Maybe Putin bought some compromising material from Epstein (Trump blowing bubba and who knows what else). Maybe there’s a lot more to the „Russia hoax“ than they’re letting on.
Think critically, verify information, and understand the common tactics of information manipulation. Don’t feed the trolls, they’re getting paid to waste your time.
It’s such a shitty thought to realize soooooooooo many people didn’t see the obvious from the start. We need to be better, cmon.
