      This is insane dedication! I’d probably electrocute myself trying to wire just 10 batteries together. Eight years running on laptop batteries is next level DIY

      Damn, 8 years is a long time to power a house from batteries. My phone cant even last 24 hours without needing recharged.

      And I thought I was doing OK with the ability to charge 16 18650’s at a time (from my kit of about 250). At least we use the same plastic holders.

      What this really shows is that lithium batteries have a life beyond their first intended use. An especially good case to be made for all the idiots who whine about the environmental impact of things like EV’s and the so-called un-recyclability of the battery packs once they are no longer healthy enough to power a car.

      I feel like I remember hearing a lot more stories like this when I was a kid. Just a bunch of really talented garage engineers. I don’t know if I have just changed my viewing habits and spend too much time on Reddit or if people aren’t tinkering like this anymore.

      Stupid title. He’s been adding to battery storage by recycling laptop cells. Still needs to actually charge them.

      I made it from vape batteries haha same thing, but i added temp control, curent control, voltage control and fuse for each cell… 🙂

      Repost from 5 days ago….. Dont do this, go buy UL listed batteries, they are cheap easy and will last for decades. Just dont, you will set your house on fire, electrocute yourself and/or waste a ton of time wiring, testing and rewiring these batteries. It was a thing 10 years ago, but today, batteries are cheap.

      Did you all read the article? This guy is def not an amateur. He very quickly identified the issue with weak cells and the need to test every single one so that they could be grouped properly. He also built it 50m away (~160ish feet) from the main building.

      Hes recycling the batteries to store his solar array power
