I do really have to wonder how the press and even the judge would be treating this should a 55-year-old trans woman have attacked a teenage cisgender girl in person and then filled social media with insults declaring her a paedophile in the same way as Linehan did?
Can’t see any universe where the headline wouldn’t be closer to „transgender woman found guilty of committing criminal damage against teenage girl’s phone“

Is it BBC editorial policy to randomly describe the personal characterises of the victims of crimes, or is that reserved solely for trans people? Really feels like a ‚detail‘ that was lumped on the end by the BBC to fulfil their transphobia quota.
Roll on the civil case, because the things he said may not be criminal but we can be pretty confident (given they wrongly alleged criminality) that they are defamatory.
Hope she gets the rights to Father Ted in the case, ‚cause then we can all enjoying it without funding this sad old man.

Linehan claimed Sophia Brooks has been involved in „trans activism“ since 2013. The prosecutor pointed out that she was 6 years old in 2013. He replied „So he says.“ Sophia’s driving licence proved she is 18 years old. Linehan replied „If you can lie about your name and sex, you can lie about anything.“

Edit: On the 10th of October this year, so while proceedings were still going on, PinkNews published an article about the suicide of a 17 year old trans girl over the waiting times for NHS healthcare being found to have been preventable by a coroner’s ruling. Graham Linehan quote tweeted this article with „Couldn’t you have cut his cock off sooner?“ He later deleted it.
I do feel some pity for Linehan. He is clearly not a well man. A few weeks ago he harassed Victoria Coren Mitchel on X because there was a Trans woman on Only Connect. She asked him to leave her alone and he continued. Using the same ‚I have lost everything fighting for women’s rights‘ while openly harassing a woman who has asked him to leave her alone. That complete lack of insight tells me he has lost his mind.

Wherever you stand on trans issues, I find it awfully sad how it has consumed his life so much. Father Ted and Big Train were works of genius. To hear about him spending Christmas Day on twitter ranting rather than being with his family just makes me sad. Please don’t bother with ‘yeah but he’s a bigot’ etc. that isn’t my point.
I think Graham Linehan needs psychiatric help. He’s behaving so erratically and it’s pretty disgusting, but he seems to have completely fallen apart mentally. I find as a lesbian his comments about lesbians particularly weird, why is he trying to white knight for a community he is not in and has nothing to do with, when none of us asked him to. Hope the victim in this case is okay, it’s such a blow to realise the law isnt on your side, poor girl.

I do find it interesting that this hasn’t had the usual brigade of transphobes come in defending him.
Almost like they know that this is completely indefensible. Anyway, there’ll be another trial when he does this or something similar again. Eventually one of them will have a judge who doesn’t have TERF brainworms (and sees physically assualting a teenager and the libelling and harassing her both in and out of the courtroom as wrong) and something may actually happen.
Seems bizarre to me that the judge would call him a credible witness when he accused the teenager in question of being a paedophile and in fact tweeted about it as if it was factual.
If that isn’t harrasment, surely it’s defamation? Or even incitement to vigilantism?
You’re talking round in circles, avoiding that “trans” is a well accepted term to describe people who live as a different gender to the one they were assigned at birth.
“Biological man” was a term created by transphobes (TERFs) to call trans women men, after “trans identified males” (TIMs) didn’t see wider acceptance. It’s a term that dehumanises anyone it’s used against, which just happens to only ever be trans people, because that’s what it was created for
