I don’t know what this is supposed to accomplish, there’s no such thing as a „good trade deal“ that can be achieved. The only path to „victory“ is stalling until Trump is neutered, so why not try to have him forget about Canada for the time being, like he did with the „tariffs“ in response to Ontario’s ad.
Carney needs to stay the course. If he needs to spend his time on something, it should be finding alternatives to being dependent on the US. Yeah it will hurt for a while. Polliviere is an idiot.
If carney backs down, he’ll lose my vote.
Trump is in a weakened position right now. Serious fires not easily put out, distractions won’t do.
It’s an opportunistic time for Canadas PM to message to Americans that Trump isn’t negotiating with the US 2nd biggest trading partner and it’s hurting the economy on both sides of the border.
One way to send that message is by going to Washington (if not invited) to speak with senate and congressional leaders, business leaders,….and American media.
It would be a follow up to the billboards that read;
“Tariffs are a tax on hardworking American workers”
Deliberately misleading headline.
No reason he can’t just go to the World Cup event to represent Canada as one of the host nations, and then come home the same afternoon.
