Poor Ukraine
Someone in Germany must have sold that machinery. Some people will just do anything for money. I hope the sellers will have a lifetime of misery.

Zero comment from the article as to when the equipment was purchased and the only thing that sets it apart from Russian made equipment is that it maybe had at some point a nicer interface and set of functions/accessories. However as also noted Russian organisations have been moving away from using this equipment for some time in favour of local variants and so presumably have also improved said variants.

That’s not exactly surprising is it? As long as the machines weren’t sold to Russia after they invaded Ukraine what exactly is the point of this article?

Could have been sold directly before the sanctions. Could have been unknowingly sold to Russia during the sanctions via a 3rd party.
The latter is the whole reason why it’s so hard to enforce sanctions. To properly sanction Russia, the rest of the world was needed to abide/comply. They did not. Our involvement in the genocide in Gaza greatly diminished our ability to morally argue why Russia should be isolated from the international stage.
With regards to the conflict in Russia/Ukraine, there is more to it than the eye can see. I recommend people to read journalist Leonid Ragozin and Ukrainian political scientist Ivan Katchanovski at university of Ottawa.
Garbage article. Of course Russian industry has Western made CNC machines. This type of equipment lasts for a long time and was already in Russia before the invasion begun. Haas (a German CNC manufacturer) was under scrutiny earlier this year for still supporting their equipment for Russian customers.
Why any serious country would buy anything defense related from Germany at this point is beyond me.
