Good story here: so I met a guy when I was traveling to Sydney on biz at the hotel bar. He was an awesome bloke- buying top shelf shots and generally holding court. Turns out he’s an airplane mechanic out of New Zealand. During the first few dicey weeks of Covid when fact and rumor were somewhat interchangeable his midsize airstrip near the Capital had a huge influx of private planes. Lots of bunker millionaires and friends of theirs. Either they were already set up or they were going to scope out purchases sometimes done site unseen.
NZ is a long way from anywhere and planes – especially the smaller private jets- naturally get a thorough review upon flying back. This guy and his boss and small team basically stuck these guys up. They made y agreement with their team to commit 20% to local charities and charge the buttholes top of rate card plus 50 percent. They made 000s of thousands…
