This vote is nothing but performative and is just wasting time that congress could be doing actual work. The fact that demcrats even considered signing this piece of toilet paper just cements how they need to be ousted from their positions.
I expect that 86 Democrats are getting some fat donor checks right about now.
Primary Jeffries.
And the democrats wonder why nobody trusts them, donates to them (other than aipac and the billionaires), or votes for them. This is why american politics ia taught differently, because there is only a center right and an extreme right here.
Did Jefferies vote for a resolution opposing fascism or corporate greed?
86 people think performative resolutions condemning socialism are the most important thing to be doing while the country slides into fascism.
This is a great list of people not to put back into office.
I’m beginning to think all this money in politics might be negatively impacting the electorate. Maybe if we give ALL the money to corporations things will get better 🙂
It was a performative move by the Republicans timed with Mamdani’s visit to the White House. But to see 86 centrist Democrats support this nonsense demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of the threat from the right, the degree to which some are out of touch with the electorate, and their belief in capitulation. Same with the Kirk resolution where even a centrist like Sarah McBride voted in favor, and she’s trans. They’re all meaningless resolutions but it makes many wonder if there is a moral code actually driving these Democrats.
100% Dems have a moment to embrace working class values, and the current leadership is clueless how to do this, or be an effective resistance party. They need to go like, yesterday. Time for folks who have the courage of their convictions, instead of corporate courage.
OWW! The stupid! It burns!
So they basically voted to say they officially don’t like helping people in need.
Ah, a toothless measure while fascism is running rampant. Newsflash guys, it doesn’t matter how Republican-lite you are, as long as you caucus with the Democrats you will forever be labeled a socialist by them. Then again, this is probably them being big mad that Zohran won decidedly.
Damn, sure sucks we aren’t able to do anything productive like lowering insurance rates. Moderate dems wasting everyone’s time as per usual. Someone needs to primary this empty suit.
Establishment Dems are on borrowed time
They voted for this just hours before Mamdani’s meeting with Trump. They’re very out of touch with their own party.
86 Dems vote for right-wing values
Not surprising. I feel like since Clinton, centrist dems are basically liberal republicans.
Progressive dems need to pull the party left. C’mon voters, do your thing and vote these guys out.
Further proof the established democrats don’t care about working class folks, and are too fucking stupid to see the strength of progressive canidates.
What „socialism“ are we condemning? Police and fire? Clean water and air? Interstate highways? Public schools? Parks, libraries and museums?
The problem isn’t the politicians. They know better. But if they want to reach out to stupid voters, they have to say stupid things.
Democrats are just shy Republicans.
So, it’s good that they separated themselves out.
Now, they can be primaried.
Let’s remove them all from office and put in politicians who are FOR the people in their place.

Cool story. Now do a vote condemning fascism
Congress: fights nonstop for years
Also Congress: suddenly agrees on this one thing
Gotta wonder what’s coming next for programs people depend on.
„tHe DeMoCrAtS hAvE gOnE tOo FaR lEfT!“
So sick of having 2 right wings parties as our only choice
And yet there are still people on reddit who think democrats are „the left“
Resolutions are just congressional hissy fits. I understand the importance of talking about this one because it reveals something about some democrats (as if we didn’t already know which ones would do something like this) but other than that I don’t care.
The Democratic party still doesn’t realize that this kind of thing loses, not gains votes.
Or maybe they don’t care and it’s just to perform for their donors.
We need a new party.
Jeffries has to go. Also fuck all the votedem sub people who defend this neoliberal trash. YOU are the problem. By not holding dems to a higher standard, you keep allowing people like Trump to win.
There is only One Party. The Capitalist Party
The Uniparty at work.
We’ll never get rid of Citizens United as long as both parties are controlled by corporations
Primary every one of these fucking twats.
Also Reddit needs to shut the fuck up claiming centrists care about the people. There’s example after example of them being different side of the same coin.
Now we know precisely who—and how many—should be primaried.
“And now, a moment of silence to reflect on all the poor billionaires who have been impacted by the horrors of paying taxes.”
86 Democrats signal they’re still their billionaire donor’s lap dogs. I’m sure Jeffries got a belly rub and a biscuit out of it.
It’s 100% performative nonsense by Republicans, but also every Democrat who voted for it has alienated its base and needs to be primaried. Choose one.
Democrats are at best a center right party, when a representative in a purple district votes against socialism in a non-binding resolution, they’re a DINO. Choose one!
“BREAKING NEWS: Democratic Party yet again found standing on its own dick.”
They aren’t Dems then. Holy fucking shit
So it’s „denouncing socialism in all forms“ and opposed “the implementation of socialist policies in the United States.”
So that should mean no more bailing out anyone in the USA correct? Why do I feel that’s BS?
I can’t believe dems are voting for a single thing republicans propose. it definitely wouldn’t be true the other way around.
This country was brought to its knees and the only thing that kept us alive were the „socialist“ services and policies the government continues to provide. If it weren’t for Social Security, we’d still have an elderly poverty rate of 65%.
A resolution condemning socialism in this country just shows how ignorant they choose to be because most of us wouldn’t even be here without it.
So 86 Democrats are fascism enablers and apologists.
I hope their voters primary all of them at the next opportunity.
Primary all of them. Get them out now. No way any democrat should be voting in line with partisan BS legislation like this. America does not need billionaires. The notion of it used to be considered obscene because it is.
My note to my Congressman Bill Keating (D) of Massachusetts:
I have read with the dismay about the congressman’s vote in support of H. Con. Res. 58 (119th Congress), which sweepingly states – without qualification of any sort – “[t]hat Congress denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States.” The specific failed policies, horrific harms, and long list of authoritarians mentioned in the resolution are certainly worthy of condemnation. But, it is a grossly mistaken view to believe that “socialism in all its forms” should be denounced. Are not some of our greatest societal achievements forms of socialism — e.g., labor laws, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, the ACA, and the list goes on? Moreover, while it is all well and good to denounce authoritarianism, why is it restricted to authoritarianism that arises from “socialism.“ Indeed, in response to the rise of authoritarianism in this country, haven’t we on the left been protesting against Kings, federal thuggery under the guise of law and immigration enforcement, and the stripping away and diminishment of the socialist-adjacent programs and policies I just mentioned. Why does the resolution stop at only authoritarianism arising out of socialism. In fact, many within our party, disillusioned with establishment politics and establishment party members, have embraced and elected avowed Democratic Socialists to two of our country’s great metropolitan cities, New York and Seattle. Aren’t they embracing socialism “in one of its forms”? Are you denouncing these new leaders and their supporters, coming mostly from within our own party? And, if not, why not say so and make it clear that our historically “socialist” programs and aligned Democratic Socialist leaders and supporters are not swept up in this denouncement. After all, it is quite clear that many of our brethren, particularly those on the right, do not see or make the distinction. Or is it just a way on the part of the democratic House supporters of the resolution to keep all options open, i.e. keep appealing to voters on the right who who fear anything with the name “social” – ism associated with it like Democratic Socialists Zohran Mamdani and Zohran Kwame Mamdani, but maintain plausible deniability about condemning these types of leaders and the growing movement behind them when confronted. That would be the mark of a cowardly leader.
Given the above, as a constituent, I would appreciate a clear unequivocal response indicating whether you intended or believed that Democratic Socialism, including its policies and programs (like the ones historically supported by we Democrats) and its adherents and supporters, to be included in the denunciation in H. Con. Res. 58 (119th Congress).
Thank you for your time and anticipated response.
86 primaries
I suppose they don’t like their socialized salaries and healthcare then? Sounds like it’s time to remove those benefits if they are so opposed to socialism
No socialism. So I can quit paying taxes because it only goes toward socialist things? No more highways, police, fire, ambulance? No need for health insurance? I guess the average American is dumb enough to think they don’t benefit from socialism in any way.
