      I still think if they’d given Erin O’Toole one more election (Trudeau wouldn’t have dropped out), the Tories would be in government now. 

      All Pollievre can do that O’Toole couldn’t is drive up vote share in areas they would win anyway which is worse than useless. O’Toole wouldn’t have been seen as nearly as dangerous by left wing voters, so the NDP/Liberal vote would have split.

      100%, Pierre resecuring his leadership could definitely give Carney a huge advantage, if the things keep rolling the way they have the liberals could be the first party to secure a majority with floor crossers in our history.

      I think it depends more on the NDP than the CPC. Liberals depending a lot on support from the left, if they go back to NDP it’s pretty much over

      This is why Carney called Poilievre’s byelection quickly. He wants Poilievre to stay exactly where he is. Carney has also moved in on the Tory premiers who actually win elections. He’s worked closely enough with them that their proximity to him is now a liability with the base.

      I would caution the LPC to not become complacent on Poilievre, to continue to believe he’s unelectable as Prime Minister.

      It was this same complacency that allowed his rise in the first place, refusing to define him from early on in his leadership out of a naive belief that Canadians will never elect someone like him. Even if the situation was mostly Trudeau fatigue, the fact is, Poilievre had a 25 point lead in the polls that he blew over his weak stance on Trump.

      All politicians and political parties have their expiry dates. Carney is enjoying advantages right now, but nothing is forever. All it will take is for Carney fatigue to settle in, with a revived NDP taking away progressive votes, and if CPC support remains consistent, this is where Poilievre wins.

      It’s the strategy that Poilievre and his supporters are waiting for. Which is why it’s important that the LPC always remains proactive.
