Philip Sloss besichtigte Anfang des Jahres eine RS-25-Produktionsanlage und erhaschte einen Blick auf viele der neuen RS-25 in Produktion, darunter auch diese Aufnahme der 25. neuen Düse. Sein Interviewpartner erklärte, dass die Düsen später im Prozess ausfallen könnten, aber das bedeutet, dass jetzt Hardware in Produktion ist, um einen vollständigen Satz von Motoren auf Artemis X (Artemis 10) zu unterstützen.
L3Harris erklärte, dass sie daran arbeiten, mindestens vier Motoren pro Jahr zu bauen. Wir haben kürzlich gesehen, dass die ersten beiden Artemis-V-Motoren fertiggestellt wurden. Wir können davon ausgehen, dass bis Ende 2029 mindestens genügend Motoren für Artemis VIII fertiggestellt sein werden.

It’s a shame that such beautiful engines may never fly. Although it’s also a shame that, if they do fly, they’re being forced to fly a ginormous barrel of pork to space.
Tossing these in the ocean after 8 minutes of use feels criminal at this point.

I don’t know on what rocket the Artemis X crew will fly, but I am 99% sure it won’t be on SLS.
