They’re also overworked to death. Quite literally. One teacher I work with is an older lady, she’s almost 60, has bad legs. She often sends me the schedule from her desk at 10 pm. They ask so much of her and she can’t really refuse. And the worst part, there’s no awareness about this at all. No on trying to ease the load. No one caring.

Saw some young teachers who started their teaching career immediately getting the worst group of rude brats possible, almost immediate burn out. You can see it in their faces, they finally get to school all happy to work with the kids, then reality sets in and the glow fades from their eyes. Unless the entire system gets a rework to lighten the load of teachers, I don’t see this improving. I would not recommend anyone to become a teacher in public school. Your life is worth more than that.
