    1. That is a terrible headline. Elements don’t „form“ inside anything but stars and particle accelerators.

      The fern is bio-accumulating the rare earth elements from the soil it’s growing in. After enough time growing in the soil, detectable and potentially usable amounts of these are in the plant.

      This is a hilarious misunderstanding of the scale of demand. Like trying to put out the sun with a garden hose. How many months would you have to cultivate and wait for this fern to produce even a pound. the cost would be astronomical without even denting the demand.

      I wonder how quickly the soil gets depleted. Not very useful if the soil surface layers runs out of REEs in a year or two and the roots don’t go any deeper….
