GENEVA (AP) — Top European and Ukrainian envoys conferred in Geneva on Sunday ahead of talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio over President Donald Trump’s proposal to end Russia’s war on Ukraine.

The head of the Ukrainian delegation, presidential chief of staff Andrii Yermak, wrote on social media said that they held their first meeting with the national security advisers from the U.K., France and Germany. The allies have rallied around Kyiv in a push to revise the plan, which is seen as favoring Moscow.

Rubio was expected to join the talks together with Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“The next meeting is with the U.S. delegation. We are in a very constructive mood,” Yermak said. “We continue working together to achieve a lasting and just peace for Ukraine.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was waiting for the outcome of the talks. “A positive result is needed for all of us,” he said.

    Russian Peace Plan****

Let’s not forget that the USA is a union state now.

Ukraine is fighting russia, but it’s USA that capitulated.

You guys sure elected a bunch of clowns.

Why do they keep talking about a ‚peace plan‘?

This is nothing more than a thinly veiled excuse for the U.S. to cut off all assistance to Ukraine.

There is nothing serious about this plan – it is merely a distraction from the U.S. reversing its policy from opposing Russia, to assisting Russia.

So in this deal ukraine loses land and russia gets no punishment for invading them as sactions get lifted. Sanctions should stay in place for at least a year as punishment.

People need to get real, life is not fair. If losing 20% of the territory brings peace and saves millions of lives, do it.

The 2 cultures are so similar, it’s like Czechia giving up land to Germany.

It’s not worth running a stalemate for years on end killing young men over this.

  7. AP ( as well as most of Western press, excl The Guardian ) is committing journalistic malpractice.

They know full well this isn’t a US plan, everyone knows. PM Tusk was trolling the US on twitter about it ( asking who exactly wrote the 28 points ).

Why are you so excited to send troops to other countries? Let Europe deal with it.

  9. The peace deal reads as follows:

    Russia gets the Land

    USA a big check

    Europe a big bill

    Ukraine hollow promises

Why do we give a shit. Cut the US out, they’re compromised. Now let’s work on winning this war with European funding and military. Russia is on the verge of collapse and losing this war, it really doesn’t matter what the US (Russia) has to say at this point if we subsidise it from Europe

If the war was due to NATO proliferation by allowing Ukraine to join it, as Putin the savage claims, why would Russia need any Ukrainian territory? Obviously this was always about imperialism rather than maintaining an East/West peacetime balance. Putin is a psychotic megalomaniac, the only sensible person is Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. No one much cares about what Trump thinks because he never makes much sense and he seems to live in an entirely different reality from everyone else.

  12. There needs to be immense failsafes within the contract if Russia does it again.

Honestly, we just need Ukraine in Nato. Just do it and middle finger Putin. He keeps insulting the rest of the world so why can’t we just call his bluff even once.

It almost feels like world governments are cowards as they want „normality“ to last as long as possible for their time in indivudal office.

I don’t understand, Russia has massive oil reserves and a terrorist regime in charge… Why haven’t we, the US, invaded to liberate the people yet?

  14. Why are americans so quiet? Their country is crumbling down and they are so passive.

Ukraine would be better off if we could get Steve whitoff out of the equation, as an unqualified puppet for Russia.

I’m sad that Kellogg is leaving, he the only one who has been on Ukraine side in any negotiations.
