I’m often struck by the contrast of a greyed Ukrainian soldier or leader, fighting both with their hearts and their brains against Russia’s genocidal rapist torturing gaslighting invasion every day over years… with a pampered soft orange-tainted billionaire who has never even bought groceries by himself, cosplaying at being a leader as he does Russia’s bidding.

Tactical special forces elite “hunter killer” operatives of the Ukrainian armed forces are on search and destroy missions, tactically clearing Pokrovsk, house by tactical house, using drones and night vision drones and tactical drones.
They’re doing all of this tactically, while being elite. Don’t forget that.

And it was like 3 weeks ago everyone was so convinced Pokrovsk was going to fall to Russia any day. Just like last year people somehow go it in to their head that Ukraine could face a sudden collapse.
Let’s put this war in perspective:
1. Russia thought they’d have this special military operation done and over with in a month. We are almost to year 4.
2. It took Russia 3 months to take Mariupol, while having it completely surrounded and their most veteran and elite troops, with all the weaponry and munitions they could muster. And they still struggle this hard against Pokrovsk. What are they going to do when they try to take Kharkiv or Kyiv or other bigger cities than Pokrovsk?
3. [Look at how much progress Russia have made since 2023](https://youtu.be/NLwfc8WXwxk?t=89). What happens when Russia makes it to the Dnieper river? How long will it take for Russia to take Kharkiv, a city that is 30 miles from the border with Russia and still Russia hasn’t taken it.
4. Look at this direct cost analysis :
* **Tanks (11,300 lost):** Average unit cost ~$1.5–2 million (e.g., T-72 ~$1M, T-90 ~$4M). Total: ~$20–23 billion.
* **Armored Combat Vehicles (23,500 lost):** Average ~$0.5–1 million (e.g., BMPs/BTRs). Total: ~$15–24 billion.
* **Artillery Systems (34,400 lost):** Average ~$0.8–1.2 million (towed and self-propelled). Total: ~$28–41 billion.
* **Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS, 1,500 lost):** Average ~$2–4 million (e.g., Grad/BM-21 ~$1M, Smerch ~$5M). Total: ~$4–6 billion.
* **Air Defense Systems (1,200 lost):** Average ~$8–15 million (e.g., Buk ~$10M, S-400 battery components higher). Total: ~$10–18 billion.
* **Aircraft (428 lost):** Average ~$20–40 million (e.g., Su-25 ~$15M, Su-34 ~$50M). Total: ~$10–15 billion.
* **Helicopters (347 lost):** Average ~$15–25 million (e.g., Mi-8 ~$10M, Ka-52 ~$30M). Total: ~$6–8 billion.
* **Cruise Missiles (3,940 lost):** Average ~$1–2 million (e.g., Kalibr ~$1M, Kh-101 ~$1.5M). Total: ~$4–6 billion.
* **Ships (28 lost):** Average ~$20–100 million (e.g., patrol boats ~$10M, frigates ~$200M). Total: ~$1–2 billion.
* **Submarine (1 lost):** Average ~$200–400 million (e.g., Kilo-class ~$300M). Total: ~$0.3 billion.
* **Automotive and Fuel Tanks (67,400 lost):** Average ~$50,000–100,000 (trucks, transports, fuel cisterns). Total: ~$3–7 billion.
* **Personnel ~1.1 million casualties:** ~$150,000 per killed in action, $20,000-$50,000 per wounded. Training/Recruitment per soldier $50,000-$100,000
* **Overall estimated total cost:** Approximately $800 billion to $1.2 trillion as of late 2025, or roughly 40–65% of Russia’s 2021 GDP ($1.84 trillion). This includes direct military outlays/losses (~$600–700 billion) and sanctions/economic drags (~$500–600 billion).
Comparatively the combined wars of Iraq and Afghanistan by the U.S. had no where near these kinds of losses, and yet few if any really think they were worth fighting. But those wars combined cost the U.S. about 3-5% of GDP per year. Russia’s war with Ukraine is around 15% of it’s GDP per year.
Be wary and skeptical of the Pro Russian bots and shills. They try to sucker you in to subjective, vibe based dogmatic narratives, because Russia knows how badly this war is hurting them.

Every successful counter action by Ukraine must really piss off Donald Trump, more than Putin probably!
