Ok what else did you expect him to say just after signing a new cooperation agreement with India (together with Australia) and having a meeting with Modi at the G20?
I think describing India as a reliable country to buy our goods is the only positive thing we can say about India at the moment.
With very strong evidence that they’re interfering in our elections and have assassinated a Canadian on Canadian soil, not to mention their declining status as a democracy, the only relationship we should have with India is one based on trade.
I’m happy if we buy and sell stuff with India, it would be good for our economy, but until Modi is replaced and India radically changes directions on their government, that’s all we should do with them.
Canada’s relationship with India took a big hit under Trudeau after he first invited a convicted terrorist to an Indian diplomatic party and then later blamed the Indian government for the invitation.
It is good to see that relations with India are improving with his replacement.
