Why the world decided to hitch its collective wagon to the US boggles my mind.
Corporations, talent and money was siphoned off from nearly every nation, because the US was “such a large consumer base”. Translated into real speak, it meant that “the US has a lot of consumers, and a freer market than other nations”.
If countries deregulated early (though never compromising on consumer health and safety), and made their markets more attractive, you’d likely see a far less centralized world, and this decoupling would be significantly less painful.
