Following Hezbollah’s continued refusal to disarm in accordance to the cease fire agreement, together with Lebanon’s failure to confront them, the IDF just targeted the number 2 highest current Hezbollah member in an apartment in Beirut.
Will this be a wake up call for Lebanon and it’s people, that this time, unlike after the Second Lebanon War of 2006, Israel will not allow Hezbollah to regroup and rearm, which will cause them to finally act?
Or will they not, which might cause an escalation, possibly even a return to a full scale war, between Israel and Hezbollah?
What is Hezbollah’s tactic here? I think it might be the same as Hamas in Gaza. Simply hoping Israel will eventually run into a wall of hypocritic lunatics from other nations, who will get tired of it justifiably targeting Hezbollah, which will help Hezbollah survive using diplomatic pressure on Israel to stop. Is that even possible?

If only UNIFIL had been allowed to actually act as a peacekeeping force (rather than observers) this could have been avoided.
