Why the 11th-hour Conservative showdown isn’t going to happen

He will win his review.
What will happen is then is the favorabilities will keep not getting better and he will rely on Carney being despised to become prime minister.
It almost worked last time… however the persona of the former pm helped that get to that point. I think Carney will have dislike, not hate for most of the electorate.
Conservatives are going to treadmill with PP staying on as leader. They didn’t want an election so played games on the budget vote. They naively believe Poilievre can turn things around and they can mount a charge in time for the fall 2026 budget vote.
No one is geared up to replace him, the CPC is bringing nothing new and Carney is polling well. Why replace him now? Get some excitement form a leadership campaign nearer election and after some people have created some drama.
And Christmas comes early for the Liberals. This continues to play out like a Liberal fantasy. A wounded but not dead Poilievre wins the review and lead the Conservatives. That is the Libs best hope and best chance to stay in power. Never depose him but just keep him and by extension, the party on their back foot. Worst case, like what the Conservatives did to Trudeau is you drive out of power the leader you want to stay in power and get somebody you didn’t expect or want.
