I didn’t know we’re ok with our politicians serving dual roles, isn’t that called a conflict of interest?

Oh well, I guess she will have to pay the maximum fine for conflict of interest for Canadian politicians which is…*checks notes*…$500.

      Seriously, it’s $500.

I’d love to know who is responsible for making this so weird. Carney to protect the seats he has, or Freeland because she has a chip on her shoulder? It’s a safe enough seat I’m definitely leaning the latter.

Freeland begins her Rhodes CEO role in July 2026. The special envoy role will be as a public servant working for Global Affairs Canada, not as a sitting MP. Canadian special envoys can hold other paid jobs, provided there is no conflict of interest with their official duties.

      >*Under the Directive on Conflict of Interest, persons employed by the government may engage in employment outside the public service or take part in outside activities unless the employment or activities are likely to give rise to a conflict of interest or in any way undermine the neutrality of the public service.*

    4. Hardly a clarification from the PMO when it leaves more questions than answers. Is she going to remain an MP? Nobody knows.

The simple enough solution is just to have her resign at the same time as Jeneroux, so the house situation is unchanged.

Perhaps they’re expecting a spring election, and thus she never has to resign, and just decides to not run again?
