They should watch my algo reel, it’s all science with a dash of cats

Deleted my FB earlier this week after 16 years. I felt physically better after 24 hours. I don’t use tik tok or instagram, but I imagine it’s much the same.

    3. Saying the word „actually“ followed by the word „rots“ in quotes is really weird. Makes me think it doesn’t actually rot, so then why use that word pairing?

    4. They’re too late, boomers already let me know that my brain was rotted a long time ago by TV and video games. It was around the same time they told me not to believe everything on TV, then they proceeded to swallow anything from the internet without a regard to validity.

You know it’s a garbage article when it’s talking about scientific research, but it puts the key point in quotes to indicate that it doesn’t really mean it.

So stupid question: is watching a Netflix Serie better for my Brain than scrolling through Instagram?

Unfortunately my attention span is too short to read this article 😢/s?

      >According to the report, heavy short-form video consumption is linked to diminished cognitive function, particularly attention control and inhibitory control. Both younger and older participants who consumed higher volumes of short videos showed poorer attention spans overall.

ok but…. people with shorter attention spans are drawn to things with more instant gratification in general. This feels like the article is making huge leaps in logic that the actual study just isn’t saying. Like the actual study doesn’t prove that short form videos cause short attention spans, just that people who tend to consume them have shorter attention spans.

Not surprising. Most of the „content“ made by „creators“ is complete garbage.

The amount of ads that appear trying to read this on a phone are also rotting my brain…

So the real question is can it be reversed? And what if people already have ADHD? I’ve never been able to focus for long periods. Granted it’s got worse with social media.

    13. As someone who uses both Reddit and Insta (and formerly tiktok), I can assure you that Reddit has been way worse on my mental health than any short-form video platform. If all you see online is brain rot content you need to regulate your feed. It’s the bare minimum. I see videos of cute animals, discussions of comic books, and people building cool shit out of legos because I make even the slightest effort to dislike and move on when I see something I don’t want to.

If you have to put the verb in quotations, is the “actually” part true?
