This move makes sense given the tensions of recent year Celebrating New Year according to Moscow time carries political baggage now, and cities have every right to redefine what kind of public celebrations represent their identity
I wish we could do that. Drives me up the walls every year when the fireworks start at 11pm and just keep going until midnight only to start again.
EDIT: Just the whole premise is so bizarre to me. I lived abroad for 10 years and not once did I feel the need to whip out fireworks at 6pm on 31st December because that would’ve been midnight in Estonia.
Well, they follow it on TV and this is why the fireworks at a weird time.
I hate Russia, but this is a bit too much.
What are they gonna do? Ban fireworks until exactly midnight? And enforce that?
We have Melbourne-time NYE fireworks here in Germany I guess.

What about ban fireworks entirely? With maybe exception for one city organized or so? I mean all it does is noise, pollution including heavy metals, injured wildlife… Just saying.
Banning fireworks at a specific time will be impossible. More people will do it if there is a ban, even if they don’t care about Moscow time
