If Smith and Moe wants a pipeline than show Canada a formal proposal, other than running their mouths. Let’s see the taxpayers of Alberta and Saskatchewan pick up the tab this time other than rest of Canada
Eby took Moe and Smith to task here. The fact that Alberta and Sask are talking to the Feds about BC’s North Coast without BC in the room is outrageous and if the shoe was on the other foot, those provinces would be losing their god dam minds.
BC has hundreds of kilometers of coast line and the southern portion already has pipelines.
Why does Alberta insist that a new pipeline has to be built in a hard to access environmentally sensitive area, with very treacherous currents that greatly increase the risk of shipwrecks and spills, against the will of BC’s government, its inhabitants, and First Nations along the way?
This is not about the pipeline. This is about Alberta imposing its reactionary agenda on the rest of Canada and especially BC.
Even if the pipeline’s final approval is a federal responsability, BC will need to be onboard in some ways to not have the project stuck in courts for years. Same thing for impacted indigenious communauties. The fact that the federal government takes the final approval’s decision doesn’t mean that other implicated parties don’t have legal options.
