    1. I’m actually a bit more optimistic about this now. I googled the new chair expecting it to be some conservative politician, but it looks like a real expert on population issues.

My guess is even the right wing of the LDP understands Japan faces a crisis and that more immigration is inevitable, but they are couching discussion of the topic in „order“ to appease the public and prevent losing votes to further right parties like Sanseito. For all the talk I’d be surprised if immigration faced serious restrictions on net.

Time to bet on what will be the proposed measures of orderly coexistence!

      I start:

1- Raise the minimum years to apply for PR to 20 years of working in Japan.

2- Ban international students and abolish all the scholarships (proposed by Kimi Onoda herself)

3- Naturalization is not allowed anymore.

4- Foreigners and naturalized citizens who bought land should have it seized.

5- 100k for visa renewals, 200k for PR. Previous proposal was too low. No more 5 years visas, only 1 year from now on.

6- No more NHI. No more shakai hoken. Foreign nationals will contribute to the services but won’t have the right to use it anymore.

7- Salaries: domestic companies will have to lower salaries of their foreign workers in at least 25% compared to Japanese workers. This will ensure real wages finally rising in the country.
