I hate saying it but God dammit, just imagine if any Democrat president ever said something close to this.

By „backfires badly“ they mean nothing happened and zero consequences

    3. „Backfires badly“ means gone and forgotten by the next news cycle, replaced by the next crazy/evil shit he says or does.

    4. He got publicly for the message to cause fear that he wanted. He faces no consequences for the statement. Do people still no understand Trump? After all this time…

If I had a quarter for every time something “backfired badly” for Trump but actually didn’t, I’d be able to sit in the front row of his inauguration.

I’m tired of the exaggeration, boss. Real tired.

For this, alone, he needs to be prosecuted. He cannot simply issue terroristic threats as POTUS. There is no universe where that is a „protected action“ or even an „official act“, at best it’s an illegal, unconstitutional order that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I’m sure Johnson & Thune will get right on it.

It was a dog whistle for violence against Dems to his crazy base that is still echoing out there and may yet have dire consequences. I don’t think it has backfired at all.

And with the knowledge that he hands out pardons to loyalists like candy at Halloween, the threat is very real.

Sad how some people are proud of this clown. They think, “yea, this is my guy.”

Wonder if this has anything to do with the pearl clutching months ago about Dems “violent” rhetoric. Can’t pretend to be the righteous ones when your leader is pig playing in the mud.

In what way has Trump been impacted negatively by issuing death threats?

      Yet again, he escapes consequence.

    11. A lady at the gym told me he was just joking and he wouldn’t say it like that. I told her, no… he literally said that exactly. Can tell foxnews has done a number on her.

Honestly, it’s time to get rid of all congressmen and senators that don’t defend our constitution and country from this felon in the White House.

We’re only 10 months in. He’ll end up killing more people than Covid. Truly great way to murder the country.

3 more years huh. Yeah we will be in the street by the end of it, defending our Constituiton by force and numbers.

How did it backfire for him? Did the Democrats write a strongly worded letter?

    16. So the article says it backfired badly because it has drawn more attention to what Democratic lawmakers were saying. I suppose this *might* be true, but I’m not sure I would call it a backfire unless we see actual, significant change as a result of it (such as more military refusing to follow unlawful orders)

It didn’t backfire at all. It successfully deflected attention from the fact that he raped children.

    18. If he’s still in office after saying that it didn’t backfire at all – he may get heat, but his shifting the overton window to make such speech accepted without concrete rebuke is a win for Trump.

    19. OnePoint21Jigowatts on

Did it though? It’s still proudly displayed publicly on his fake twitter.

    20. As an Australian.

Your President is literally violating everything and the recipients are bent over lubed up.

I remember everyone criticizing Destiny as being alarmist and hyperbolic about the direction the GOP was heading and what should be done about it. He argued that the GOP was turning genocidal and Liberals would either need to seriously prepare for a civil war because if they didn’t the Republicans were simply going to exterminate them.

Turns out he was not wrong at all.

    22. Ok and, New Republic, is the „backfires badly“ in the room with us right now?

And look how quickly he got everybody talking about something other than the Epstein files. Works every time for this clown.
