And nimbies are to blame
Lower the night rate then? This ain’t rocket science
Lots more solar farms coming online in next few years so there will be more waste
This is a well-known problem with renewable energy sources – it’s hard to fully utilise their output.
Proposal to change infrastructure to accommodate extra night energy is nice. But it’d be interesting to compare the cost of an infrastructure upgrade with the cost of utilised night energy.
Doesn’t matter. We have a privatised energy supply, that will always seek to increase profits. Energy needs to be state supplied, but we keep voting in neoliberals that want basic needs like energy privatised.
Bring back storage heaters!
If we stop objecting to batteries we can take that cheap energy at night and sell it during the day
Starting to see some real costs of being reliant on intermittent energy sources. Now to fix the leaky roof🔨
I’ve mentioned to people before about money being wasted in hospitals around Ireland, ive worked in some as IT and I use to say to staff to turn off devices not being used because there could be a week and they leave hundreds of pc’s, monitors, printers and other stuff all left turned on. I meant to look up trying to find the rate they would pay for electricity because if this happens in the few hospitals and out patient facilities I was at then its fair to say that it would happen at nearly all around the country and thats a lot of wasted tax payer money. If you add in other state run organisations it would be many millions of euro a year which could be used elsewhere.
