    1. ‘Should Canada choose to fly the Swedish-built Gripen-E, the country’s air force could receive the first aircraft as quickly — or perhaps even sooner — than the long-awaited American-manufactured F-35, the CEO of Saab signalled Thursday.’
Saab says 9-10k jobs could be created in Canada during the build-up phase (2030). Even 200 jobs would be more than the Americans are guaranteeing for Canada by 2030.

I believe the idea is that these fighters are augmenting F-35s from the united states, and not either/or right?

The united states stupidly chosen to sell this weapons platform to Saudi Arabia, which is AT BEST a strategic ally, not an actual ally. And I doubt all the countries that bought f-35s didn’t have a say in that sale, and ALL have their own relationship with SA. A country who is responsible for the grizzly murder of a journalist.

Selling that weapons platform to them compromised the entire platform.

That affects the value of that weapon to EVERY party that is running it, or is in deal to run it.

The united states has shown extreme duplicity in defending or even supporting its allies. The f-35 program came into question after musk whimmed that Ukraine shouldn’t use the internet for a bit.

There are also other countries that are producing and have designed systems for the f-35 that is now being sold to Saudi.

The problem with american reputation and reliability is entirely a made in america problem.

They devalued their own defense industry by literally being twats.

    3. We are stupid to take the gripen over the f35 because of our hurt feelings. We live in a world filled with manpads both our geopolitical neighbors are prolific manufacturers of anti air systems.

Israel wiped out Iran’s extremely formidable AA capability using f35s without being detected. That alone is an incredibly powerful advertisement for the f35.
