      If you have a data breach, you owe the American taxpayers 30% of your revinue from the last five years

      And each year it happens you’re eligible to stack that shit

      Also, the CEO should face the same penalty

      And five years in jail

      Why aren’t there repercussions for companies who lose our data? At the very least, they should have to carry insurance that pays out to the affected parties.

      These companies should start having to provide significant financial compensation for this shit. Directly to those affected. I trust you with my information because you’re providing me a service, you are obligated to protect it and if you fail to or willingly share that information I should be entitled to compensation. That’s it, plain and simple.

      Names and addresses of police officers are often obscured from public record. Now there’s a database of information you can compare against public records to get a list of houses where someone who is a cop/dv victim/etc might live.

      My data gets stolen so often now, it doesn’t even matter anymore. These corporations will never be held liable for their lazy data practices.
