AOC warnt davor, dass wir uns möglicherweise in einer „massiven“ KI-Blase mit „Bedrohungen der wirtschaftlichen Stabilität wie 2008“ befinden könnten.

Of course we’re in a massive AI bubble, but I honestly don’t think it can be compared to other economic periods of instability. It’s in a league of its own. Wise to warn about it, but not to compare.

If you’re running a inverse Reddit strategy you’re so in the black it’s not even funny. Bubble or not, I’m still gonna ride the wave.

    3. Comparing the current AI bubble to the subprime mortgage crisis is asinine.

Why is everyone saying this now as if it’s some great revelation?

Sundar Pichai was doing rounds with this “insight” as though he hadn’t been stoking investor frenzy-masturbating over AI for the past five years.

Yeah, because we never arrested the people who CAUSED 2008 and got off scot free

    6. Comparing this to the US housing market is laughably absurd. The US hosting market is probably 100X larger than the AI market. Plus 2/3 of Americans own a house.

You better believe we’re gonna be bailing these people out. They have too many friends in Washington. They’ve „donated“ to too many politicians for them to not receive a bailout when the time comes.

Remember, the goal is always „privatize the profits, socialize the costs.“

    8. I don’t know about this.

In the dotcom bubble there were a lot of just shit stores calling themselves dotcom and honestly Internet wasn’t that expensive to start a business with, I got friends that runs a dial-up ISP company, just a bunch of college kids renting multiple T-1 lines and relay the Internet.

The subprime mortgage crisis is bad debts packaged up so they can sell shit on the derivative market, everyone was buying houses and/or flipping, until it grinds to a hold and people who bought house in the early 2010s were all under water due to the crash of housing.

A.I. is mainly invested by those mega-corps, there are a lot of shops claiming that they are using „AI“ but honestly they aren’t, and you have probably less than 10 A.I. companies that have so much money that they can die a few times over, just look at how Zuck fucked up his Meta-Verse and he’s still fine.

Warns? It’s a ticking time bomb. AOC vocalises the thing that is going to happen.

    10. Two words: Government Bailout.

They’re going to funnel tax dollars into these megacorps before Trumps term is over through infrastructure (datacenter) contracts in the name of national security. Everything is fine. It is not a bubble. Just because politicians don’t see what’s going to happen and Google wants time to catch up.

If everyone is saying it, is it still a bubble, or it’s already priced in?

    12. Major_Bag_8720 on

No one cares as long as they can dump their Mag 7 stock at the right time and leave someone else holding the bag. Problem is, everyone thinks they’ll be able to tell exactly when the right time is.

No shit. I’ve been job hunting for coming up on a year with a ‘competitive’ degree, a strong network, and I’m fucking broke and losing my mind.

    14. Wish we could be warned of literally anything good happening. That’d be cool for once.

    15. And it’s the dumbest fucking bubble ever conceived.

Thls has got to make people realize the market and economy is arbitrary nonsense dreamed up by coke addicts.

We ain’t gonna be the ones suffering for this shit while the big players get bailed out again. Just no

    16. Back in 2008 financial speculation was on its knees. We missed a golden opportunity for finishing it off. Will we be ready to finish big tech oligarchy this time?

    17. Biggest indicator that we are indeed not in a bubble yet when even people like AOC start saying that.

    18. AlleKeskitason on

It seems more of a valuation bubble than anything else to me, it’s not like the banks are leveraged to the tits with OpenAI or anything, most of the big tech companies pouring money into AI are profitable and have ample cash to withstand the hit.

If it pops, half of the Nasdaq valuation will come out like a wet fart that you try to hold in until you get home, but I don’t think it’s an economic meltdown that takes the whole society with it and makes us live in the caves.

Unemployment in the tech sector will soar and somewhat less so in the sectors catering to tech, but that’s just tough shit.

I wouldn’t bail out any of the AI companies. It’s not the society’s fault that their business model is crap. Do better.
